“We are two Senior artists, who have spent many years teaching art, independently working in our separate studios, and showing in various galleries and museums. Recently, we have started to work collaboratively on our various projects, producing a unified image and statement. Pamela Hanor received a Masters Degree in Painting from Claremont Graduate School in Claremont, California, and did graduate/undergraduate work at UC Berkeley, USF in San Francisco California, and the University of Aix-Marseille, in France John Hanor received his MFA in Art from the University of Iowa, Iowa City, after completing undergraduate studies at Knox College, Illinois. We explore and work together, producing highly imaginative and compelling art, that is expressive, unique and sometimes surreal. Of particular importance to us, is the human condition and inter relationships, using our own and observed experiences. This is achieved in a sometimes expressive and abstract style, combining personal archetypes, figures, interesting painting techniques, that invite the viewer to join in a narrative, compelling them to participate in our pictorial conversations, and find their own answers. Our work involves mixing media, 2 and 3 dimensionally, using oil/acrylics, on canvas, board and polymer “skins”. We often do repeated layers of materials, scratching, glazing, building up a surface, more glazing, and refining with drawing and dry brush. Though working collaboratively, we continue to independently apply personal approaches that reflect previous tried and true results, and bring them together in a new finished creation. Our years of mature art production, now come together stronger than ever, with our combined vision and experience. ”
